They also can be used to enhance the shape and volume of many areas including the lips and cheeks. Dermal fillers are made of a variety of different substances, including hyaluronic acid, and calcium hydroxylapatite. The specific product used will depend on the area being treated and the desired outcome. The procedure typically takes on average 30 minutes to complete and results can last for several months to a year, depending on the specific product used. We use Restylane and Teosyal Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers at Worthy Skin and Beauty Bar. They are extremely high quality, and look and feel like natural tissue when injected allowing for very natural results. We also use Radiesse (Calcium Hydroxylapatite) for volumization and skin quality improvement.
What Happens During Your Dermal Filler Procedure?
Your treating clinician will review your medical history to ensure you are healthy enough to undergo the procedure. They will then review the areas being treated and take photos. During a dermal filler injection procedure, the clinician will clean the area to be treated and then administer a small amount of dermal filler (such as hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite) into the skin using a fine needle or cannula. The filler is then distributed beneath the skin's surface to add volume, smooth out wrinkles and lines, or enhance facial features such as the lips or cheeks. The procedure usually takes between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated and the amount of filler used. After the procedure, the healthcare professional may massage the treated area to ensure the filler is evenly distributed and there may be some mild swelling/redness or bruising for a short period of time.
What Is The Best Facial Filler?
Here are several types of dermal fillers that are commonly used to enhance and improve the appearance of the face. Some of the best or more effective facial fillers include:

Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane & Teosyal. These fillers are made from a naturally occurring substance in the body (hyaluronic acid), and they can add volume and hydration to the skin, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, and plump up thin lips. They have various types and formulations which vary in texture/density and thickness depending on the area treated and the depth of wrinkles and fine lines. The clinician will choose which filler is appropriate depending on the location of the injections and your desired results.

Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers such as Radiesse. This is a thicker filler suitable for deeper wrinkles and more volumization. It will also stimulate natural collagen/elastin and for this reason, lasts much longer than Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers. It is best used for cheeks & the jawline/chin area. We can also dilute the product with normal saline (called hyperdilute Radiesse), and use it to restore volume to soft tissue and improve the look and texture of the skin.
How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
The duration of results from dermal fillers can vary depending on the type of filler used, the area of the body being treated, and the individual's underlying skin type and condition.

Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane, and Teosyal have a wide range of duration from 6 months to 24 months, depending on the product used, the area treated and the individual's physiology and metabolism.
Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers such as Radiesse tend to have longer-lasting results compared to hyaluronic acid fillers, typically lasting about 12 to 36 months.

It's important to keep in mind that the duration of results will also depend on factors such as the amount of product used, the skill level of the healthcare professional performing the procedure and the individual's metabolism and lifestyle. Results can be seen immediately post treatment, but do continue to improve over the first few weeks.

The clinician will review your medical history, take photos and explain the consent forms and aftercare prior to beginning the treatment.

The clinician will clean and numb the area to be treated, often using a local anesthetic cream or ice.
